It is easier to find real estate agents in any real estate market than to find good short sale listing agents. Why? It is simply because short sales are very complicated and require agents with extensive experience as well as clear understanding of the local real estate market, specifically the short sale industry. The other reason why it is difficult to find a short sale agent is because the candidate does more than simply putting your house in MLS and plopping up a ‘for sale’ sign in the yard. You want to find an agent who has impeccable negotiation skills to represent you before the bank. You want to find an agent who has an adequate amount of experience to advice you on the likely duration your short sale is going to take. You also want to work with an agent who has a track record of success. If you can find all these in one person, rest assured you would have found the best short sale agent.
